Best Practice for Online Retail Security – Part 1 - Power Retail

Recently online store security has become very important and we contributed an article to Power Retail which is part 1 of a 2 part article.

The growth of e-commerce, has increased the risk of security breach this article outlines what retailers need to know in order to protect their businesses.

As we see more focus put on to online retail we are also hearing about more incidents where e-commerce stores have been compromised resulting in loss of business, information and revenue. A few of these situations actually make it into the media such as the hacking of the Lush UK and Australian websites reported by Power Retail in February 2011. Or even as far back as 2007 when Roses Only made the headlines when credit card information was stolen from a server.

There is no doubting that people are heading online for better deals, but a headache does exist around payments. One way to drive consumer trust is to have a secure payment method in place, or to offer a way of purchasers redeeming money, should an incident of fraud occur.
